Missing Girl
I just wanted to spread the word about a girl who has been missing for several days. She is the granddaughter of a friend that I used to work with. Here's a link to the KSL news story: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=5883433, Luba is 16 years old. She and her younger sister were adopted from Russia about 3 years ago. They didn't have the best life in Russia--it was terrible actually! If you read the comments on the KSL article, there is one at 11:04 on 3/17/09 submitted by Luba's dad that goes into a lot of detail about her life prior to being adopted and what she has gone through even since being in Utah. They're a great family that adopted these two girls because their only son has muscular dystrophy and severe autism and they were afraid to pass the MD gene on to other babies. Please at least look at her photo and keep an eye out for her! If you happen to be in a situation where you could post a 'missing' flyer, please let me know and I'll email it to you. Thanks!

Oh my gosh! I cant believe that. I bet Joy is freaking out. How sad! I hope they find her!
I think they found her, right? I sure hope so!
Wow! I read that whole story. We were thinking about doint that whole 'host a Russian orphan', but this kinda puts a damper on it. I don't think I have what it takes to put up with that stuff. It's really sad. I can't imagine what that family has been through. How is Joy doing?
Thanks for your comment on my blog. :) We really do need to get together. I'm just waiting for this darn weather to stop messing with us and really warm up.
I hope you win! :)
I've been meaning to update this for a few days -- they did locate Luba on 3/19. It's a long story, but she contacted her dad for her clothes and he was able to figure out where she was and talk her into meeting her for her clothes, at which point she was taken into custody. The family is especially relieved to know that she's safe and hopefully she'll accept help and understand that her family is her advocate, not her adversary.
That is seriously horrifying. That is every parent's worst nightmare! Hope it turns out okay. Hope you guys are great!
